Computer Teaching Assistant at Jeanne Elmezzi Adult Learning Center

​The Queens Library’s Adult Learner Program (ALP) provides services, resources, and life-long learning opportunities to the changing communities of Queens. The ESOL Program offers English classes at community libraries throughout Queens for the immigrant population of Queens to help speakers of other languages improve their English-language skills, achieve fluency and self-sufficiency, and become integrated into American society. The Computer Teaching Assistant will assist the ESOL teacher in using computer software, "Ventures," in class.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 18 years of age and older.
  • Possess a solid knowledge of specific subject areas
  • Basic Computer Skills (email required)
  • Ability to take direction well
  • Comfortable working in a busy and fast-paced setting
  • Comfortable working with Adult ESOL students
  • Dependable and organized
  • Must have a high school diploma or higher degree.
  • Must have good communication and reading skills.

SCHEDULE
Mondays and Wednesday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am

ADDITIONAL NOTES
Volunteer schedules depend on individual dates and times available. Volunteers may work a maximum of 15 hours per week. 
Individuals 18 and older are subject to an investigative background check that may be used when considering volunteers.
Volunteer placements are not guaranteed. Due to limited availability for interviews, only applicants with applicable skills and experience will be contacted.
