Learning Circle Facilitator 2019-20 (Multiple Locations)
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Learning Circle Facilitator leads a group of up to 8 adult learners interested in improving their skills in reading, math, social studies, science, writing or digital literacy.
The Facilitator would oversee and participate in a shared learning experience using online learning platforms (USA Learns, Learning Upgrade, Essential Ed, Northstar, Google Applied Digital Skills, Readworks, CommonLit, Penn Foster, etc.).
Specific responsibilities include:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will possess the following traits:
TRAINING (MANDATORY)
Candidates must be available to attend the following sessions:
Orientation
Tuesday, September 10th from 10:00am - 12:00pm at the Central Library
AND
Learning Circle Facilitator Workshop
September 14th from 1:00pm - 3:00pm at Rochdale Adult Learning Center
ADDITIONAL NOTES
Applicants must submit a resume before an interview is scheduled and must be uploaded with the volunteer application. Incomplete applications (missing required documents) will not be processed.
Individuals 18 and older are subject to an investigative background check that may be used when considering volunteers.

- Learning how to download the app and how the app lessons are organized and delivered and, how the app’s learning management system works.
- Foster cooperation and mutual support among students; determine if all or most participants use a social media app such as WhatsApp or Facebook to set up a private online group where they can easily get in touch, and share challenges and opportunities in using the app.
- Track and enter data on attendance, student participation and solicit feedback.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will possess the following traits:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Passionate about working with adult learners in a one-on-one or small group setting
- Must be comfortable and competent in using smartphones, particularly android phones
- Able to use social media platforms including Facebook and WhatsApp to moderate groups
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Must be able to work a flexible but dedicated schedule; minimum 2 hours per week
- Minimum of an High School Diploma or equivalent
