What makes an effective leader?
Community leaders and organizers share similar characteristics and traits that allow them to inspire and mobilize others towards definitive actions to improve their community.
Fundamentals of Civic Leadership is a multi-part training series that introduces participants to community organizing and explores the role that residents can play to address issues, such as safety, education, wellness, and quality of life, and impact family, friends, and neighbors.
Each session details the skills and characteristics of effective leadership and provides a foundation of information and resources that can be used as a starting point for attendees to build a mastery of the topic. Although the information that is shared is interconnected, the sessions are designed as stand-alone offerings giving individuals a full learning experience whether they attend one or multiple workshops.

- The Power of Many: How to Create Community Partnerships
- Ready & Aim: A Strategic Approach to Address Community Problems
- Cultural Awareness: How to Go Beyond Geography to Become a Community Leader
- Branding 101: Tips for Effective Outreach & Communications
Periodically, we host guest speakers to expand on topics and provide unique perspectives and experiences directly from the field.
Sessions are conducted online, run ninety minutes to two hours and held on a regular basis during the calendar year.
