Peer-to-Peer Service Collective
The Peer-to-Peer Service Collective (P2PSC) is an opportunity for high-school students, 14-18 to bring their ideas for community service projects to the attention of Queens Public Library and help develop opportunities for teens to lead presentations, workshops, and other activities to strengthen their academic skills, and obtain insight and resources that help navigate the high school journey.
Examples of previous peer-to-peer projects include:
- Tips to Improve Your SHSAT Score & Navigating a Specialized High School [PRESENTATION]
- Tricks to Help Math Easy & Fun [SATURDAY WORKSHOP SERIES]
- Homework & Summer Academic Enrichment Helpers [STUDENT-LED CLUBS]
GETTING STARTED
It’s easy to become a P2PSC contributor and bring your ideas to fruition:
1.Complete the Idea Submission form. Students are asked to provide detailed information about your proposed activity including:
- overview and description,
- goals objectives of the activities,
- target audience,
- number of sessions and session length,
- preferred locations or neighborhoods,
- materials provided or needed
2. Once your project is received and reviewed, the Civic Engagement Team will contact you to schedule a meeting to learn more about your idea and provide additional information to frame and prepare your project for dissemination to our staff.
3. Library staff have the opportunity to bring your project to their location and may want to speak with you directly to gather more information before making a final decision.
4. Once your project is “ready for the public”, we will begin marketing and promotion to help attract the audience to help make everything a success. Along the way, the Civic Engagement Team is available to answer any questions and offer support to bring your vision into reality.
