Peer-to-Peer Service Collective

Are you a teen who is also a service-oriented creative thinker, looking to bring something unique and valuable to your community or QPL local branch?

The Peer-to-Peer Service Collective gives teens age 14-17 the chance to propose and potentially lead a workshop, activity, or initiative to their peers at Queens Public Library! Selected project ideas will be workshopped with QPL staff, pitched to branches, marketed to the public, and facilitated by the submitting student or student group. Student presenters will become official QPL volunteers, accruing volunteer hours for time spent presenting in branches!

Peer-to-Peer submissions will be accepted twice annually:

  • Spring Semester: February 1 – February 28/29

  • Fall Semester: September 1 – September 30

All program ideas are welcome! Ideas that are ultimately selected will be those that best suit branch and patron needs at a given time. It can take between 6-8 months from program submission to facilitation.

~ Check back in February to submit your program ideas via our Ideas Submission Form! ~

PEER-TO-PEER PROCESS

  1. Once your project is received and reviewed, the Civic Engagement Team will contact you to schedule an initial meeting, with the intention of getting your idea “library ready” to pitch to QPL branches. Additional follow-ups may be required in order to finalize program content.

  2. Once program content is finalized, it will be pitched to branches and—depending on branch interest and availability—scheduled at a location on the mutually agreed-upon date and time.

  3. At this time, marketing materials will be developed to ensure program attendance and program success! As you work to prepare the finishing touches to your workshop, the Civic Engagement Team is available to answer any questions and offer support to bring your vision into reality.

  4. You will present your workshop and debrief its success with QPL staff!
