St. John's University: Academic Service Learning

St. John's University provides students with opportunities to contribute to the public good of local communities within New York City.  Academic service-learning at St. John’s University is a classroom/ experiential site- based program that involves students in some form of required community service that benefits others and uses service as a means of understanding course concepts. The service activity meets course objectives, and through reflection students examine issues pertaining to social justice and responsibility.

Community Service Projects

Queens Library provides community service projects at several locations for students registered through the Academic Service Learning office.   Students interested in completing hours should visit the office to sign-up for upcoming days and receive the steps to register online using this portal.   

All sign-ups must be received at least seven (7) days in advance.  No-walk-ins are permitted.
