ABOUT CENSUS 2020
It is important that Census 2020 includes people of all ages (including infants and children), races, and ethnic groups; all citizens; and all non-citizens.
Census 2020 will determine how more than $700 billion in federal government resources will be distributed over for the next decade to every state. Census data is used to determine where schools, roads, hospitals, child care centers, senior centers, and other services are built. Federal programs like Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicare Part B, Federal Direct Student Loans, Head Start, and many more rely on Census data, and so does our democracy—these data determine how many seats New York will have in the U.S. House of Representatives and how district lines are drawn at all levels of government.
