Community Library Projects at Queens Public Library

Community libraries are the primary destination for most volunteers.   Queens Public Library operates 63 locations within the borough that strive to meet the changing needs of residents and visitors, regardless of age, gender, culture or background.

Volunteers may choose to work directly with the public or behind the scenes in a variety of roles to support our staff members.  Our locations are open six days a week with morning, afternoon and evening hours available depending on the project.

Projects are offered year-round.  Applicants must be a minimum of 14 years old to volunteer with Queens Public Library.  Service descriptions indicate any specific requirements needed to apply.

Popular projects include:

  • Library Aide
  • Homework Helper
  • Activity Assistant
