Friends of QPL Neighborhood Chapters

Friends Neighborhood Chapters are a network of local neighborhood groups that represent a specific branch location and tasked with supporting Library activities through fundraising to sponsor programming, materials, and resources; conducting outreach to better inform and encourage residents to attend programming; and advocate on behalf of the library with local stakeholders, including elected officials and business owners to provide support to the institution.

These select chapters work directly with Library Managers to sponsor programming, plan activities, raise awareness, and conduct local fundraising to support a branch.

A HISTORY OF SERVICE

Established in the late-1980's, the network of neighborhood chapters are comprised of library volunteers that support the programmatic needs of specific local branches by working with library staff to secure funding, materials, and other resources.  Additionally, these volunteers are called upon to increase local neighborhood awareness and advocacy of branch activities and systemwide initiatives by leveraging personal and professional relationships and communication channels such as email, direct-contact, and social media.

During its tenure, the Friends of QPL chapters have directed an estimated $500,000 towards Library related programming, activities, and resources.
