Volunteers Return to QPL Branches

July 1, 2021 - Queens Public Library has advanced its timetable allowing volunteers to return to in-person service within its branches, starting July 11th.

June 30, 2021 - Queens Public Library has added a number of Computer Aide positions to our growing menu of in-person volunteer opportunities.  Computer Aides provide assistance to customers within our computer labs.  Applicants should be familiar with basic computer applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and popular browsers such as Google Chrome and Internet Explorer/Edge.

June 16, 2021 -  With Queens Public Library expanding its available services to include in-person browsing and computer lab access, locations have started recruiting volunteers to assist in these areas.

The public is invited to apply for positions as a Library Aide to help organize circulation materials (books, magazines, DVDs, etc.); and response to reserve requests sent by customers for pick up at a local branch.  In most cases, applicants must be at least 14 years old and available for a few hours 2-3 days a week.  Individuals should be familiar with the Dewey Decimal System; comfortable with alphabetizing materials; and interested in learning first-hand the inner workings of a public institution.

Currently, branches are limited in the quantity of volunteers permitted on-site; so don't be disappointed if you aren't offered a spot.  More positions are expected to open as indoor capacity restrictions are lifted.  You will be required to complete a personal interview (via Webex/Zoom); and complete mandatory Health and Safety training and Volunteer Orientation.

Once the application process is completed, volunteers are scheduled to begin on-site starting Sunday, July 18th.
