City Council to Discuss Library Collections
The City Council of New York is hosting a special neighborhood session to explore the importance of city libraries research collections. The Committee on Cultural Affairs, Libraries, and International Relations convenes a public hearing, Telling Our Stories: Examining the Research Collections of New York City's Public Libraries, on Monday, September 28th, at 11:00am, at the renowned Schomburg Center for Research Center for Research in Black Culture.
Committee members speak with city's three systems to discuss the importance of preserving research collections within public libraries. Collections curate books, newspapers, pictures, films, music, documents, magazines, and other items that capture current and past history. These collections are repositories of the stories, challenges, and achievements of all people...open and accessible to everyone.
New Yorkers may attend the meeting, either in-person or online; and are invited to submit written or video testimony to demonstrate their support of this issue.
