Get Out the Vote in Jackson Heights

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Join Queens Public Library as we partner with the Queens Borough President's Office to GET OUT THE VOTE! With the upcoming June 22nd primary elections only a few weeks away, we want to encourage people to vote and tell them about Rank Choice Voting (RCV).

With Rank Choice Voting, you can rank up to 5 candidates in order of preference; and giving your vote more power and say in who you want to represent you in government.

Volunteers are needed to:

  • Distribute flyers

  • Speak directly with residents about RCV; and encourage them to vote

  • Direct the public to obtain more info from the GOTV Table


Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old (Minors must submit a parental consent form)

  • Available from 10:30am - 2:00pm

  • Comfortable speaking with people in a public setting (speaking Spanish or a South Asian language is a plus)

  • Volunteers are expected to walk around the area; and speak directly with local residents

  • Must complete an online Health and Safety Training (recorded videos)

  • Must complete a Health Questionnaire on the morning of the event


ADDITIONAL NOTES
QPL will provide masks and sanitizers to all volunteers
