Activity Club Leader: Chess at Seaside (QPL)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Club Leaders facilitate a range of activities that use games and hobbies to develop personal and social skills.

Seaside Library s looking for an experienced Chess Instructor to introduce the game, rules, and strategies to both school age children 7-12 years of age, as part of the summer program.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • 18 years old and up 
  • Club Leaders would be expected to explain game set-up and rules; demonstrate basic strategies; and guide participants through beginner-level play.
  • Comfortable working with and supervising school-aged children 7-12 years of age.
  • Individuals should be available for a minimum of 7-10 weeks starting early July through late August/early September; able to conduct at least one weekly 45 minutes/1 hour session
  • Afternoons; Monday-Friday; exact times flexible based on availability 

ADDITIONAL NOTES

This is an in-person project.  Individuals, 18 and older are subject to an investigative background check that may be used when considering volunteers.
