IDNYC Translators (QPL)
IDNYC is a free, municipal identification card for New York City residents, ages 10 and up, wihich provides access to a wide variety of services and programs offered by the City. Queens Library has partnered with the NYC Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs as an access site for IDNYC.
Queens Library is looking for volunteers with fluent or near fluent Spanish skills to provide assistance to non-English speaking individuals as they complete the IDNYC applications. Volunteers will help translate questions and answers between applicants and IDNYC staff.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- 14 years old and up
- Minimum of two hours per shift
- Fluency or near fluency in English and Spanish/Bengali
- Able to communicate clearly
- Patient
SCHEDULE
Mondays - Fridays
- Shift 1: 10:00am - 1:00pm
- Shift 2: 2:00pm - 6:00pm
ADDITIONAL NOTES
This is an in-person project. Individuals, 18 and older are subject to an investigative background check that may be used when considering volunteers.
