Library Aide at Seaside (14+)
SUMMARY:
Library Aide Volunteers support daily library operations by checking in and shelving materials, setting up displays, repairing items, cataloging, and preparing reserves. They also assist with clerical and technology tasks such as answering phones, filing, scanning, and helping customers use the online catalog, computers, and software. Volunteers provide friendly, patient service, helping create an organized, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all library visitors.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- 14 years old and up
- Good time management skills
- Dependable and organized
- Basic knowledge of Dewey Decimal system preferred (click to learn more)
- Some experience as a library aide or page preferred but not required
ITEMS REQUIRED:
Minors (14-17) Adults (18+) TIMES OF DAY VOLUNTEER NEEDED:Sunday:
Monday: 10am-6pm
Tuesday: 1pm-6pm
Wednesday: 10am-6pm
Thursday: 12pm-8pm
Friday: 10am-6pm
Saturday: 10am-5pm
* Volunteer schedules depend on individual dates and times available
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a volunteer to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Required to utilize a computer to enter and retrieve information; and to communicate with staff and external customers. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May use a computer/video display terminal.
