[EVENT] Civic Engagement Conference Event Volunteer (18+)

Event Volunteers are needed to support the inaugural Civic Engagement Conference hosted by Queens Public Library on Saturday, April 18th from 9:00am - 5:00pm

Volunteers play an essential role during the entirety of the event by providing assistance to staff and guests. Specifically, event volunteers will:

  • Direct guests to event areas throughout the Central Library (Main Floor and C-level)
  • Assist with guest check-in areas
  • Escort groups to/from workshops and monitor workshop areas
  • Assist with refreshments areas for breakfast and lunch
  • Additional tasks may be assigned throughout the event day.

Volunteers are provided with breakfast and lunch, and receive small breaks during the event. Additionally, volunteers are required to wear a QPL Volunteer T-shirt.

REQUIREMENTS

Event volunteers should be comfortable interacting and speaking with guests and working in a fast-paced environment. The event is held in a large space on two floors and volunteers should be prepared for standing for extended periods.

  • 18 years and older
  • Must be friendly with an outgoing personality
  • Available for the duration of the event. Anyone not available for the full day is asked to not apply.


DEADLINE
You must sign-up for this project by Wednesday, April 15th at 11:00am. All sign-ups will be notifed on a rolling basis.


ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The Civic Engagement Conference gathers thought-leaders, practitioners, community advocates, and everyday leaders to open their “Leadership Toolbox” to discuss best practices used throughout their journey; provide advice and share tips to help level-up your endeavors.

Additionally, the conference showcases the role of public libraries within the civic landscape and the various avenues of engagement, such as Civic Education, Leadership Development, Community Service, and Service-Learning, that is available to everyone.

Guests attend workshops and panel discussions and participate in networking opportunities to learn and share information and resources that strengthen your ability to serve as an informed community champion.
