Queens Public Library is providing opportunities to complete community service projects online.  This allows caring individuals to support those in need across Queens and beyond by engaging in fun and interesting virtual projects.

WHAT IS VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERING?

Virtual volunteers perform various acts of service working on behalf of others without having to travel to a QPL location.  In most cases, projects can be completed in whole or in part, using the Internet and a home, school, telecenter, or work computer or other Internet-connected device, such as a smart-phone (a cell phone with Internet functions) or personal digital assistant (PDA).

TRACKING YOUR PROJECTS

Volunteers may register online for a variety of projects that may be conducted at a self-guided pace or based on a schedule or deadline.

Virtual volunteers may be asked to provide confirmation that projects have been completed.  In most cases, volunteers would receive verification of project completion instead of completed service hours.

QUALIFICATIONS

QPL virtual service opportunities maintain our comitment to quality and safety for the public.  All volunteers must meet library standards to participate in service projects.  All descriptions possess the necessary qualifications and requirements for the position.
