Resume Coach at South Hollis (QPL)

South Hollis Library seeks volunteers who are dedicated to improving the educational and vocational opportunities of adult in SE Queens. The Resume Coach would provide assistance to patrons looking for new opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet one on one with adults to assist with resume preparation, job search, interview prep, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality
REQUIREMENTS
  • 21 years of age and older
  • Ability to communicate effectively individually and with groups
  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency required. College Degree preferred.
  • Intermediate to Advanced computer proficiency, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet and email.
  • Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service to large volumes of diverse individuals.
  • ​Two (2) or more years of experience in job readiness or workforce development preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and providing feedback on resumes, cover letters, and employment documents.
  • Self-motivated and able to work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Queens and Queens community resources a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Word and using online job search databases.
  • Previous career mentoring/coaching experience preferred
  • Applicants must submit a resume to be considered for this project

SCHEDULE
Minimum 2 hours per week (Monday-Friday); afternoon/evening availability preferred

ADDITIONAL NOTES
Individuals 18 and older are subject to an investigative background check that may be used when considering volunteers.
