Introducing SkillsMatch

SkillsMatch is a brand new way to apply for volunteer projects with Queens Public Library.  Using SkillsMatch, you can get a head-start on the volunteer registration process by completing several mandatory requirements without needing to apply for a specific project AND help your application stand out from others by completing a Skills Profile telling us about your background and experience.

Using SkillsMatch, QPL can identify and interview suitable candidates for projects based on their qualifications and speed the process by avoiding the wait for consent forms, background checks, and other screening requirements.

SkillsMatch also gives you the chance to receive invitations to apply for upcoming projects that fit your skills.

How it Works

You only need to complete a few easy steps to get started:

1. Create a SkillsMatch Volunteer Connect account.

2. Submit required paperwork

  • Minors (14-17 years)

    • Parental Consent Form (Click to download): Minors must have signed parent/guardian consent forms to volunteer.

    • Valid NYS Working Papers  NOTE: This requirement has been waived until further notice UPDATED - 8/13/20

  •   Adults (18+)
    • Criminal background screening

3. Complete Your Skills Profile

Once finished, your information is made available to QPL staff members seeking support.  If matched, you will be contacted to hear about the project and schedule and interview.
