A Message from Dennis M. Walcott, President & CEO

Queens Public Library celebrates all the people who give their time, talent, and energy to making the Library a better place for all. Through acts of service, large and small, they help ensure that we can meet our mission and remain a vibrant, trusted, and safe space for all who count on us each day.

Volunteers work with children and teens throughout our branches as Homework Helpers, Activity Club Leaders, and Summer Meal Helpers. They deliver critical services and resources to the public, shelving books, helping newly arrived immigrants strengthen their English skills, and distributing fresh produce, canned goods, and other essential items to local households through our Mobile Food Pantry events.

Volunteers conduct oral interviews to document and preserve the rich history of local residents as part of our Queens Memory Project. They work together to assemble resource kits for asylum seekers and menstrual hygiene kits that increase access to basic necessities. Through the Friends of the Library, they serve as community champions to make clear the importance of public libraries and advocate for the resources we need.

To each of our volunteers, I want to express my deep gratitude for your continued commitment. You are a vital part of the Queens Public Library community and an inspiration to us all.
